MaryKaye Cochran

Executive Administrator, Three Notch’d District

MaryKaye Cochran was hired in September 2020 as the Executive Administrator for the Richmond District.  After the Charlottesville district administrator retired in August 2022, she began serving as the Executive Administrator for the Three Notch’d District.  MaryKaye has an undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and a graduate degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.  She was a student affairs administrator at Longwood College for 12 years before starting a career in Christian Education.  MaryKaye served as a Christian Educator at three different churches, then worked as an administrator in the VAUMC Connectional Ministries before moving to her current position.  

MaryKaye has served on the Conference Board of Higher Education and currently serves on the Conference Board of Communications.  She co-chairs the Race and Reconciliation Project at Belmont UMC in Richmond.  Her spiritual gifts are faith, administration, and creative communication.  Her StrengthsFinder gifts are empathy, learner, developer, connectedness, and input.

MaryKaye is married to Larry Cochran, senior pastor at Belmont UMC.  They have three grown children, two daughters-in-law, and one grandson.  They love to camp in their Hiker trailer, especially at state parks.  In her spare time, MaryKaye loves to read and walk their dog Pippin.  Her superpower is singing, which she exercises in the church choir every Sunday.  Her life verse is Nehemiah 8:10.
